A Google Earth Staff Ride is a geospatial training
tool. . A GESR is designed to capitalize on Google Earth's ability to
view large scale incidents without the need for spending days of travel
to visit each site during a normal staff ride. A GESR is not a virtual
staff ride. In other words, participants are in the same room viewing
the same screen, and can communicate normally during the training. A
robust integration phase takes place, no differently from any other
staff ride you may have attended. We are looking at options of how to
pursue a true virtual staff ride, but may not get to it soon.
We
invite you to look at some of our examples and submit your own. All
submissions will be looked at for content before posting, so please
submit a .doc with the following information or include it in your
GESR:
Author of the GESR
Author's current position title
Purpose of the GESR (what are you training for)
Credit to anyone who helped you compile the GESR
Contact information (email address will be posted)
A brief write up or instruction sheet on how you have run staff ride
Submissions without the above information will not be posted. As
always, trust the source of your downloads, if you didn't get it here,
it has not been looked at by the GETA Group.
